We have been cleaning roofs in the Green Bay area since 1996. Featured here is a roof I was working on in the fall of 2018. The customer called me to ask if I could save his roof from having to be replaced. After getting up onto the roof and seeing that there was alot of lichen, moss, fungi, and mold, I also noticed that there was no permanent damage done yet by these growths. I quoted the roof cleaning project at 600.00. That was to spray the roof with eco and bio-friendly solutions. Let those solutions naturally eradicate all of the growths. Then removing the dead growths and solutions with a hot water hard rinse! This gets roofs extremely clean all the time. But how does it always stay clean for so many years? After every cleaning project, the last step is to spray the clean roof with an invisible blocker. This blocker can not be seen, but it puts an invisible barrier between the shingles, and any growth that might land on it and start growing. It lasts around 7 years before it will begin to break down. If you have your roof cleaned with bleach (like my competitor uses), a blocker can not be used because you simply do not want to trap the toxic fumes and toxic residue of bleach onto the shingles! Remember, if a roof cleaning business tries to sell you on a no pressure, scientifically designed solutions pitch, it means BLEACH. Anywhere from 30% to 40% straight toxic bleach! They add approximately a 5% mix of refresh to hide the distinct smell of bleach. This is to keep you in the dark of what is really being used. TOXIC BLEACH!! There is no such product that you can just mix with water, spray on your roof, then with 0 pressure, rinse off and get a clean roof. If there were, it would be sold out at every Menards, home depot, and hardware store in town. I am a very experienced roof cleaner, I would be using such a product if it were real. Truth be told, There using bleach. They may even admit to it, but will then minimumize it by saying its only 2 or 3 percent bleach. Don’t fall for that either. It is 30 to 40 percent toxic bleach, along with a eco-friendly solution. Imagine the hypocrisy of showing you (the customer) the eco-friendly solutions he uses, then when its time to clean, a concoction of 40% bleach is dumped on your roof! Don’t believe it? Go to softwashsystems.com to find the Green bay Wi. roof cleaning business that is doing this! His businesses name can be found on this site. Look at the chemicals page to see what ratios are really being used to clean roofs. Anywhere from 30 to 40 %!! Not 3 or 4 % like he will claim if he claims the use of bleach at all. I ask each and every potential customer whom is looking to have their roof professionally cleaned to get at least 2 free estimates. Make Green bay roof cleaning one of the 2, so I can show you first hand my safe roof cleaning solutions, and safe roof cleaning techniques. On the Home page you can see what a professional roof cleaner like myself will use to clean roofs. This trailer that was made for only one purpose, to clean roofs professionally. It has separate tanks for treated water, for eco and bio-friendly solutions, and for blocker. It also has its own boiler that is used to heat water up to approximately 200 degrees for the hot water hard rinse! My name is Tom, and I own Green bay roof cleaning (GREENBAYROOFCLEANING.COM). I would like to earn your trust as being the only safe alternative to roof replacement. Using bleach to clean the roofs on homes with kids and pets is simply reckless and irresponsible. Roof cleaning services are needed by many homeowners, especially in the Midwest. In our area, the sun is not directly overhead for much of the year, so sunlight is shaded from reaching your roof which can contribute to harmful mold and fungi growth on your home. Sunlight can also be shaded from your roof if: your roof faces north, there are trees in your yard, or the higher sections of your home are shading other sections of your roof from light. With no sunlight, moisture will build up on the surface of your roof, allowing mold and fungi grow easily.
Once there is mold and fungi present, lichen is produced. Lichen is not good for your roof because it has roots which feed on the limestone that is mixed in with the sand granules that are in your shingles. If the lichen problem is not addressed, it will grow and spread, along with its roots. If left untreated, these roots will eat holes through your shingles, causing major roof issues. Green bay roof cleaning and Pro roof cleaning never use bleach. Pro roof cleaning has been around for 25 years, and they do good work that lasts. Pro roof cleaning does use a slightly different technique than Green bay roof cleaning (Pro roof cleaning uses 0 pressure, high volume rinse. Green bay roof cleaning uses 100-125 p.s.i., which is basically a hard rinse). Both are very effective methods. Bleach using businesses can be very dangerous to not only the environment, but to your landscaping, lawn, and pets.
